Case Study: Locus Architect

LOCUS Architecture is a Minneapolis-based architectural firm that designs sustainable buildings and renovations for residential, business and religious clients who value the arts and the environment.

LOCUS recently moved in to a new building at Nicollet Avenue and East 45th Street in Minneapolis. The new office features a gorgeous install of Arbor Wood Co. thermally modified wood.

Arbor Wood can be found at the main entry of the office as well as at a walk-out deck area on the south side, which has Arbor Wood cladding and decking.

Justin Merkovich of Locus Architecture says they chose Arbor Wood because it is a real, domestic wood species that is durable and, importantly, beautiful.

“We selected Arbor Wood for the most prominent faces on the building that would have the most frequent human interaction,” says Merkovich. “In terms of construction and ease of use, Arbor Wood is a good fit with our rain screen wall assembly.”
